Guest Speaker: Elizabeth Brown, Director of Single Seniors for Tax Fairness (SSTF)
We’re honored to welcome Elizabeth Brown, Director of SSTF, who will discuss the organization’s mission to advocate for fairer tax policies for single seniors. Elizabeth will cover recent recommendations to the Federal Finance Committee, illustrate tax inequalities faced by single seniors versus couples, and provide examples of benefit clawbacks. Additionally, she will review the tax treatment of RRSP/RRIF assets upon the death of a single senior.

Mina Di Domenico will discuss BPW’s support for SSTF through a federal resolution advocating amendments to the Federal Tax Act. This resolution calls for single seniors to be designated as critical stakeholders in policymaking to ensure equitable taxation.
